League of Women Voters of Arkansas Announces New Local Chapters

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The League of Women Voters of Arkansas today announced the formation of three new local chapters serving the Upper Delta, Garland County, and the Jonesboro area. This expansion brings the League’s statewide network to seven local chapters, joining four existing local chapters in Benton, Faulkner, Pulaski, and Washington counties. Each local chapter creates new opportunities for Arkansans to participate in nonpartisan voter education, voter registration, election outreach, and civic engagement in their own communities.

The new chapters are:

  • League of Women Voters of the Upper Delta, serving Crittenden, Cross, Lee, Mississippi, and Phillips counties;
  • League of Women Voters of Garland County, serving Hot Springs and communities throughout Garland County; and
  • League of Women Voters of Jonesboro, serving Jonesboro and the surrounding area.

“Arkansans are looking for meaningful ways to strengthen their communities and make their voices heard in government,” said Kristin Foster, executive director of the League of Women Voters of Arkansas. “These new chapters are about building lasting local infrastructure that helps people participate in democracy year-round, especially in communities that have too often been overlooked or underserved.”

Local League chapters provide practical, nonpartisan opportunities to become more involved in civic life. Depending on local needs, chapter members may organize voter registration events, host candidate forums, observe public meetings, advocate on community issues, and help voters navigate the election process.

The League of Women Voters of Arkansas was founded in 1920 as a chapter of the national League of Women Voters organization, working for more than 100 years to encourage informed and active participation in government. The League is strictly nonpartisan, not supporting or opposing any political parties or candidates. Membership and chapter activities are open to all people who share a commitment to empowering voters and protecting democracy.
