Welcome to Week 1 of the Unite & Rise Civic Action challenge. This week’s theme is CONNECT.
When we think about getting out the vote, we often picture phone banks, challenge mail, or volunteers knocking on strangers’ doors. But some of the most meaningful encouragement comes from people we already know and trust.
Your Civic Circle action this week is to choose ten people you can stay connected with through Election Day. They might be friends, relatives, neighbors, coworkers, members of your faith community, or anyone else who may need reliable information or a little encouragement to participate.
Once you have your ten people, reach out and ask one simple question: Are you registered to vote at your current address?
This is not about asking who they support or persuading anyone how to vote. It is about helping people make sure they are ready and able to participate.
You can use this message:
Hi! I’m participating in the League of Women Voters’ Civic Action challenge this fall. I’m reaching out to a small group of people I know with trusted nonpartisan election information and reminders. First question: are you registered to vote at your current address? If you’re not sure, I’m happy to help you check.
Your League action is to RSVP to or attend an upcoming local League meeting, orientation, or volunteer gathering. Watch for information from your local chapter or reach out to a chapter leader to ask about the next opportunity to get involved.
After you have completed your actions, log them in the Civic Action Tracker. Ten people may not sound like many, but when League members across Arkansas each begin ten trusted conversations, our collective reach grows quickly.
